Kevin J. McElroy has been a leader in the government travel industry as CI Travel’s President and COO since 2004. He first joined CI Travel in 1984 as General Manager. Through the years at CI Travel, McElroy progressed through various positions of increasing responsibility – Vice President, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President and President. CI Travel, under McElroy’s leadership, was awarded multiple Department of Defense Commercial Travel Office (CTO) contracts, including Langley Air Force Base, Patrick Air Force Base, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, U.S. Navy Leisure operations in Norfolk, Virginia and several others. The company has also acquired contracts with the NASA nationwide account and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Throughout his tenure at CI Travel, McElroy has participated in other aspects of the business. As a member of the Executive Committee since 1984, he has been involved in both the Cruise Wholesale Division (Cruise International) and the Dinner Cruise Division (The Spirit Cruises). He headed the development of a sister company, CI Consulting (CI Travel, Naples, Florida), acquiring a number of Southwest Florida travel companies that are now integrated into CI Consulting. In 1997, he led an effort to acquire 50% ownership in CBN Travel (China Business Network), of which he is now President, and in 2006, he acquired 100% ownership of Nicholas Travel.

McElroy began his career as a U.S. Naval Officer. After serving in various roles for five years on active duty, he began his business career as a logistics consultant for a cost reimbursable contractor.

McElroy has been serving as the Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Society of Government Travel Professionals’ (SGTP) since 2007. He has been a member of SGTO since its inception in 1984. Recently, he was appointed to the Advisory Board for the American Express Retail Travel Network. Previously, he served on the Board of the Norfolk Visitors and Convention Bureau (NCVB) and Woodside Travel Trust.

McElroy is a graduate of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and he operates under the belief that his company’s success comes from having a staff of dedicated individuals who are committed to CI’s goal of supporting its customers and meeting their travel needs.
