Norfolk, VA – On October 17, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., CI Travel hosted the highly successful World’s Largest Cruise Night in collaboration with CLIA, the official trade organization of the cruise industry of North America and thousands of other travel agents around the world. At 6 of their leisure travel locations, over 150 clients, both new and old sat with CI Travel Consultants and were given access to incredible one-night only cruise deals and incentives from the major cruise lines.
“Many of the people who visited were experienced cruisers who knew that onboard credit offers and discounted category rooms were a big deal,” said Jennifer Royal, a Travel Consultant from CI Travel’s Pembroke location, “still others were new to taking a cruise but were really interested in the options out of Norfolk.”
That is good news for the Hampton Roads and Peninsula communities. As the interest in cruising from the Norfolk Cruise Terminal grows, the hope is that more cruise ships will use Norfolk as a port of call to meet the market needs. In the Cruise Market Profile Study, done by CLIA in April 2006, 2400 adults with an income of 40K or more were polled to show there has been a 31% increase in cruising since 2004. The study also projected that 31 million adults in the US, age 25 or older, will take at least one cruise by 2009.
