On Friday, November 20th, Royal Caribbean International will unveil their newest cruise ship, the Oasis of the Seas, on Good Morning America during a special live broadcast. CI Travel will have representatives onboard the ship before, during after the broadcast, posting photos and making comments on Facebook and Twitter.

November 19 and 20, Cathy Guntz (Travel Consultant) will be onboard for the first inaugural cruise, and will be answering emails live from the ship during the broadcast from interested travelers.

November 20-22, Kevin McElroy (President and CEO) and Chris Nicholas (Vice-President of Sales) will be onboard the ship, providing their impressions and comments on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

November 22-27, Kevin McElroy, Reed Atkins (Executive Vice President and CFO), Helen Leon (Senior Vice President of Operations) and Valerie Rauh (Manager, Meetings and Incentives) will sail as part of the Royal Family Event from Royal Caribbean. Valerie will be providing her perspective on what the ship has to offer for meetings and groups. The CI Travel executives will be answering inquiries from travelers and posting their comments on CI Travel’s main Facebook and Twitter pages throughout the sailing.

“Royal Caribbean is leading a whole new concept in cruising with the Oasis of the Seas. We want to be able to provide real insight for travelers so they can ‘get their arms’ around this ship,” remarks McElroy. For example, Royal Caribbean aims to get people from their car to the ship in 15 minutes, with a brand-new terminal which will contain 90 check-in counters. “We’re going to put that to the test so travelers can know exactly what to expect,” adds McElroy.

“It can seem overwhelming to think about cruising with 6,000 of your closest friends,” comments Guntz. “But, they are going to have smaller entertainment venues and distinct neighborhoods, so my expectation is that people will find the cruise ship to be like a popular resort town, with a combination of smaller areas, quiet relaxation spots and fun, busy areas.”

When she enters service in December 2009, Oasis of the Seas will be the largest and most revolutionary cruise ship in the world. An architectural marvel at sea, she will span 16 decks, encompass 225,282 gross registered tons, carry 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and feature 2,700 staterooms. Oasis of the Seas will be the first ship to tout the cruise line’s new neighborhood concept of seven distinct themed areas, which includes Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone. The ship will sail from her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
